Wildlife Biologist: Black Fox Timber Management Group Inc, has an opening for a Wildlife Biologist to help with projects throughout California. The successful applicant will be required to work primarily out of the McCloud Ca. office and may require travel. Black Fox Timber Management Group Inc, will provide a company vehicle.
Primary duties involves assisting staff with surveying, monitoring and administration of wildlife projects along with THP development, timber cruising and timber marking.
Qualifications to Include:
- 4-year degree in Wildlife Biology or Natural Resources related field is required.
- Familiarity with the California Forest Practice Rules and California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).
- Ability to communicate with client and explain biological aspect of forestry.
- Ability to communicate and work with State and Federal regulatory agencies.

Intern Forester - The Center for Forestry manages five forest research stations throughout the Sierra Nevada mountains. Assignments may be at any one of these sites, but most will be at Blodgett Forest in El Dorado County, CA. Forestry-related research in areas of forest ecology, ecosystem processes, silviculture, and forest management are conducted at Center properties. This position works closely with professional forestry staff on forestry projects and supervises field crews of 1 to 5. Forester / Registered Professional Forester: Ideal applicants will have a four-year degree in Forestry, Wildlife or closely related Natural Resource discipline coupled with three or more years of field experience. Primary duties will include THP preparation, sale layout, timber cruising and timber marking. Applicants must have extensive experience performing these tasks. While an RPF is not required, prospective applicants must either possess the experience and education qualifying them to take the RPF examination or be on track to do so within one year. Seasonal Botany Technician - The Botany and Wildlife Department of Sierra Pacific Industries, a private timber company based out of Anderson in Northern California, is looking to hire a seasonal botany technician to help conduct detailed botanical surveys of the company’s timberlands. Surveys may be conducted on multiple areas of the SPI ownership so the applicant must be willing to travel. Successful applicants will be able to work in remote field conditions, hike steep slopes over rocky ground, and be willing to work full days under summer conditions. Duties may include: Plant ID of CA flora to family, genus, and species; Measuring and recording topographic and geological characteristics of a site; surveying THP areas for rare plant species; navigating forest roads using a map. Regeneration Forester - Roseburg Forest Products Co. (RFP), an integrated timber and forest product manufacturing company, is seeking a Forester to join its professional forestry group. The position is located in Weed, CA.
As a Regeneration Forester, you will plan, implement and administer assigned silvicultural activities to meet or exceed standards set by RFP and state regulations. The majority of work will be plantation establishment, vegetation control, stand management activities, stand exams, and site preparation activities. This job is physically demanding, requires long days, and working on steep slopes in a wide range of adverse weather and field conditions.
