Vice President, Conservation: The Pacific Forest Trust, a non-profit based out of San Francisco, dedicated to conserving and sustaining America's private, working forests. Sales Prep Forester: Tahoe National Forest,Yuba River Ranger District, Camptonville. The incumbent plans and carries out a variety of sale preparation duties, including timber marking, timber cruising and timber sale layout. This position designs and monitors timber sale and service contract cruises; determines type and intensity of cruise needed, calculating volumes, quality and cull and breakage percentages; interprets complex silvicultural prescriptions and marking guides to designate harvest timber; develops logging plans and lays out timber sale boundaries in accordance with environmental assessments and other instructions, considering factors such as transportation system, topography, fuels management, silvicultural objectives, wildlife needs, stream protection and other related resource considerations; Responsible for the preparation of timber sale packets, which include timber appraisals and draft timber sale contracts. Minimum qualifications: Forester (0460): Completion of a Four Year Course at an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in forestry or at least 30 semester/45 quarter hours in related science fields and at least 24 semester/36 quarter hours of course work were in forestry. Forest Technician (0462): Qualifying experience includes 1 year of specialized experience at the GS-8 level directly related to the line of work. The experience requirements for the GS-8 level may be met by completion of 18 months of graduate level education in a position-related field of forestry or natural resources management. Seasonal Timber Cruiser: Hohman & Associates Forestry Consultants is looking for timber cruisers for the 2010 summer season. Timber cruises shall be performed on private, industrial and federal land.
