CLFA LETTER TO DFG PROTESTING 1600 PERMIT FEE INCREASES: On September 15, 2009 CLFA sent a letter protesting an increase in the fees associated with 1600 permits.

CLFA LETTER TO BOF REGARDING EXTENSION OF EMERGENCY NOTICE EFFECTIVE PERIOD : On August 3, 2009, CLFA wrote a letter of support to the BOF regarding the “Emergency Notice Effective Period Extension, 2009” rule package, which increases the effective time for an Emergency Notice to one year, from the current standard of 120 days.
CLFA LETTER TO JOINT LEGISLATIVE BUDGET COMMITTEE: On June 16, 2009, CLFA wrote a letter of concern regarding the proposals to abolish the BOF and to divide the California Dept. of Forestry and Fire Protection.

CLFA LETTER OF SUPPORT FOR NSO RULE PACKAGE: On May 4, 2009 CLFA submitted a letter of support to the Board of Forestry supporting the NSO rule package.
CLFA LETTER OF SUPPORT FOR AB 1066 EXTENDING THP LIFE FROM 3 YEARS TO 10 YEARS: On April 6, 2009 CLFA submitted a letter of support to Assemblyman Tony Mendoza extending the effective period for an approved timber harvesting plan (THP) from the current limit of three years to ten years.
CLFA LETTER OF SUPPORT FOR A TIMELINE EXTENSION OF THE EMERGENCY NOTICE: On March 20, 2009 CLFA submitted a letter of support to the Board of Forestry & Fire Protection supporting a timeline extension for the Emergency Notice.
CLFA LETTER TO BOF REGARDING NTMP APPEAL: On October 2, 2008 CLFA submitted a letter to the Board of Forestry & Fire Protection regarding the appeal by the San Jose Water Company on their NTMP (#1-06NTMP-012SCL)
OFFICIAL CLFA RESPONSE TO AB 32 DRAFT SCOPING PLAN – SUSTAINABLE FORESTS: On August 1, 2008 CLFA submitted official comment to the California Air Resources Board (ARB) on the AB 32 Draft Scoping Plan-Sustainable Forests.
PRESENTATIONS TO CAL POLY: On May 28, 2008 CLFA Executive Director Hazel Jackson and Licensing Executive Officer Eric Huff gave presentations to the Silviculture Class at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Eric discussed licensing and the profession and Hazel talked about CLFA, including student membership and employment and educational opportunities. In addition, Hazel gave a presentation about Patrick Jackson (deceased 12/24/07), who was the first Cal Poly NRM graduate to pass the foresters exam. She also donated his forestry instruments and equipment to Cal Poly. Eric and Hazel also gave shorter presentations to the Fire Ecology and Dendrology classes. Cal Poly is celebrating the 40th anniversary of the NRM Department and Dr. Piirto has indicated there are plans to set up a display cabinet with information and memorabilia about the history of the department. GUIDE TO DETERMINING THE NEED FOR INPUT FROM A LICENSED GEOLOGIST DURING THP PREPARATION: CLFA worked with the Division of Mines & Geology and others to develop this guide. The guide was introduced at the CLFA Identification and Management of Unstable Areas Workshop in October, 1999.
